Orz Boyz

Publicerat av lucas4you den november 29, 2008

A very, very nice new (2008) Asian film (Taiwan) about two troubled young schoolboys, with the nicknames ”Liar #1″ and ”Liar #2″. It´s a real coming-of-age film, with good acting and a nice photo. Some brief scenes are perhaps a little to sentimental for my taste and the story is sometimes a bit shallow. But since the picture is good, the boys are cute and good-acting, this coming-of-age social drama is highly recommended!

”Late Summer” is a very well made short film from 2001 about a young boy who has to spend one special summer with his older cousin. It´s a nice coming-of-age tale, with some unexpected turns. This film is included in the box ”Boys life 5″.

This nicely shot short film from 2005 is about high school student Ben who is longing for his classmate Johnny. Interesting, sensitive and with good acting from Adam Fleming (Ben) and Michael Cassidy (Johnny).

The Island On Bird Street

In this film from 1998, we´ll follow the 11-year-old Jewish boy Alex, who is trying to survive the German Nazis during World War II. Living in a Polish ghetto with his father and great-uncle, Alex manages to hide inside the remains of a collapsed building when the troops come to clear the ghetto. Now he has to manage on his own, with his pet mouse Snow as the only friend. This is a very well made, sad and haunting film, that is based on a true story. The photo is excellent, and Jordan Kiziuk, who is playing Alex, is doing a great performance here.
