Nachttocht

Publicerat av lucas4you den september 26, 2009

Thanks to the support by cvmc.net I´m able to present a review of the Dutch film ”Nachttocht” from 1982.  At first sight there is a slightly controversial plot concerning a boy´s interest in his canoe practising male teacher.  However, during the film it´s obvious that the love and friendship with the 23 year old Joep also is filling an empty space left by the boy´s absent father. When the 12 year old Thomas one day finds out that Joep is sleeping with Thomas´mother, he feels betrayed once again. He then thinks that Joep´s only reason for the previous interest in him was to get close to his mother. This is a great coming of age film about growing up and dealing with feelings of love, friendship, jealousy and betrayal. Will there be a happy ending? Watch it and you´ll know!

This is a really great Dutch short film, that I could recommend to everyone interested in the ”coming of age”-genre. Go to Skykid for a great review, that was actually made as a join-review where several visitors to the forum in the blog watched this film and then shared their opinions to everyone else. The result was then put together in a single review where all the comments on the film from all those visitors were integrated. I think that´s an interesting thing of doing this. So dear visitors, pls don´t hesitate to leave any comments and to join the Skykid´s forum when you´re on his blog!

Ciske The Rat

Publicerat av lucas4you den mars 27, 2008

Starring Dutch singing sensation Dannty De Munk, this is one of the most touching childhood sagas ever brought to film. Living in Amsterdam, 1934, eleven-year-old Ciske is a troubled kid caught in the winds of the war between his separated parents. His mother is a promiscuous bar maid whose disdain for the boy is obvious. And his dad, a mostly absent merchant seaman, is just not up to the task of raising this good-hearted, but rambunctious kid. Constantly in trouble both at school and in the streets, Ciske is most certainly on a collision course with disaster. Unless the few adults who do care about him can prevail against overwhelming obstacles. Based on the bestselling book trilogy by Piet Bakker, Ciske the rat will make you laugh, cry, and marvel at how one young boy can so skillfully capture your heart.
